we have been busy busy around here lately. perry has been such a trooper lately and has handled the juggling routine so well. poor thing got her foot caught going down the slide a few weeks ago and we thought she had broken her foot and/or leg but we had it xrayed twice and nothing was wrong. she didn't walk for almost 5 days and then would limp or crawl around and it was pretty pitiful to watch. we made an appt with an orthopedic doctor just to get a third opinion and to ease all of our minds and he did another different xray and found a toddler fracture. the good news is that it is already 95% healed and it should be completely healed when we go back in 3 weeks. i was out of town for work so taylor had to take her to the appt. and he did such a good job - he wheeled her around ACH for the hour they had to wait on the doctor. Such a good daddy. Uncle McCall also had to take Perry by himself for her follow up ENT appt yesterday b/c I was still out of town for work and she got a great report from him too. the tubes have been a lifesaver! when i got home last night perry wouldn't look at me or even acknowledge i was in the room for the first 2 hours. she only wanted taylor. she finally warmed up to me after a while and we were best buddies again but it broke my heart there for a minute. she has started doing this a lot when she is with my mom or sister for the day, especially when i go meet them for lunch and then leave again. i can see the confusion in her little face and it just rips my heart right out. here are some pics from the past week that my mom texted me.
in her new swing at the lake
asleep in her highchair - at least this time there wasn't food in her mouth.
one other "milestone" for us was that i finally let her cry it out one night in her crib. this was the thursday night before she got hurt on the slide on friday. it was really hard and took 23 minutes and i would go in after 5 minutes, then 10, etc. and she woke back up every couple of hours and we would do the same thing again but she was putting herself back to sleep so i thought we were on the right track. several times taylor was trying to go in and get her and i had to put my foot down. well, that friday she got hurt so she has somehow weasled out of it once again. yes, she still wakes up in the middle of the night and yes i still go get her every time. hopefully we will figure it out one day. :)
i need to do a 15 month post for her - she goes in for her checkup soon.
